TRAUMA and YOU
Trauma effects everyone differently - there is no “one size fits all”.
Trauma doesn’t come in different sizes colours or shapes - it’s something that happens, it’s not our choice and it’s not our fault.
Our trauma experience is personal to us. While inside it may feel that this is just about us individually or even our fault – that’s not the case. Others may have had the same or similar experiences.
You Are Not Alone!
Trauma has no labels. When we walk in the street or sit in our school class there is no outside label. People don’t know about your experience - there is no label on you to tell them.
While we feel alone in our experience, many others will have had disturbing and upsetting experiences. Like you these people will not have labels so it’s easy to imagine bad experiences only happen to us. It doesn’t.
We can recover and have control of our lives.
Others have done it!
We can do it!
You can do it!
Trauma can impact on us in many differing ways, some of us will feel frightened, some of us will have difficulty sleeping. Some people have bad dreams, some have flashbacks to the event or feel anxious and jumpy a lot of the time.
